Signal in the Noise
Purple Signal was created for an AI research lab that needed an identity as precise as its work. The challenge: make something technically rigorous feel visually compelling. Purple — historically linked to both science and mysticism — became the bridge between cold logic and human curiosity. The system uses deep violet gradients, sharp typographic hierarchy, and generous negative space to communicate that rare combination of power and restraint.
System and Application
The identity system includes a custom monogram, a responsive web interface, and a set of data visualisation templates used in research publications. Particular attention was paid to the gradient logic — each violet tone in the palette corresponds to a specific frequency in the visible light spectrum, making the colour system scientifically grounded rather than decorative. The final result is an identity that researchers take seriously and that outsiders find genuinely beautiful.
